‘Tis the season! Time to start checking off that holiday shopping list. If you’re looking for the perfect gift for the trail rider in your life (or just want to splurge on a little something for yourself), check out our highly anticipated Nevada Horse Trails 2025 Holiday Gift Guide. I’m always keeping an eye out for new things because I’m a sucker for trail gear and gadgets. (Take my money!) Here are some of my favorite things that I tried this year or just caught my eye.
Kula Cloth
Still drip-drying in the sagebrush like an animal? The Kula Cloth is an antimicrobial, reusable pee cloth for anybody who squats when they pee. Truly, this is a game changer piece of gear for the trail. It’s cleaner than a bandana or rag and more Leave No Trace friendly than toilet paper. Plus, with so many designs to choose from (and custom options), they look cool hanging from your saddle. I never ride without one anymore!
Boot Blankets
How fun are these?! These zip up half chaps are handmade in the USA with 100% wool saddle blanket material. They are designed to go over your lower pant legs to provide a little extra warmth on chilly rides or just look cool out on the town. There are tons of beautiful western designs to choose from, and you can even add accessories like buckles and straps. Fashionable and functional!
Hydration Harness
You know how you’re supposed to keep essential items on your body and not in your saddlebag? These wearable harnesses from Broke Supply Co. are designed to carry everything from water, to your phone, to maps, to GPS, to first aid kit, or whatever else you might need. These would be fabulous for endurance riders, long riders, or anyone else who rides trails. We’re hoping they’ll release some cool colors or prints soon!
No Sweat Hat Band
Nevada gets hot. Like, really hot. No one likes having a sweaty brow when riding. These hat liners are moisture wicking, soft, and disposable. They have several different styles – including ones for more traditional big crown cowboy hats, as well as narrower liners for shorter crown hats and even baseball caps. Makes a nice little stocking stuffer!
Mane Hair Get-Down
Some people like to ride with a halter under their bridle, for quick access to a lead rope. But not everyone has a bridle that can accommodate that kind of setup. These horse hair get downs solve the problem. They are made by Nevada’s own J.M. Capriola Co. in Elko. They go behind the poll and through the throat latch, bosalita, or just tie around the neck, and then tuck the end into your belt or around your saddle horn.
North Star Beanie
Personally, I will be wearing one of our new winter beanies all winter long. We got them in two earthy colors, and they feature our North Star logo heat stamped into full grain leather patches. Made and hand applied by Range Leather in the USA. They (and everything else in the store) are 15% from November 28 – November 30, so it’s a great time to snatch one up!
Bungee Rope Holder
Sometimes you need to tie stuff to your horn. These bungee rope holders from Rae’s Rope Halters are super convenient and strong enough to hold a rope, jacket, or halter. I love that you can order them in custom color combos and, of course, that they are handmade in the USA. Very affordable and another great stocking stuffer.
