The holidays are right around the corner! The Nevada Horse Trails 2024 Holiday Gift Guide is full of fun ideas for your favorite trail rider. (It’s okay if that is yourself!) Here are some products that caught our eye this year, along with some of our longtime favorites.

J.M. Capriola Wool Sweater
Based in Elko, Nevada, Capriola’s has been a landmark Western shop for nearly 100 years! Along with saddles and tack, they are also known for their wool sweaters, which sell out year after year. 100% wool, handmade, in tons of cool patterns and colors, these sweaters are guaranteed to keep you warm on the chilliest trail days.
Saddle Pal
If you take a halter, lead rope, or leash with you while you ride, this nifty clip on is a must. No more ropes dragging on the ground or getting tangled up. The velcro keep on the Saddle Pal keeps everything securely attached and easy to access.

Fetlock ID Band
Trail accidents can happen to anyone. Before your horse gets loose, you want one of these custom nylon fetlock bands. They are embroidered with your phone number or a 12 character phrase. Safe to wear 24/7 with approximately 32 lbs breakaway, double closure hook and loop, and it can be worn during all types of activities without rubbing or hair loss. Comes in different bright colors and sizes.
Nevada Road & Recreation Atlas
This is my bible for backcountry adventures. Benchmark Maps are highly detailed for finding trails, water sources, and other useful land info. Trust me – buy one to keep in your truck and one to use at home for planning.

Western Wool Cowl
Fashionable and functional! These western cowls are made with Pendleton® fabric, antique brass snaps, and lined with Sherpa or fleece. So cute and so cozy! Tons of different patterns to choose from.
Booma Rein
With Booma, you can take a picture, look at your phone, or grab a drink but you won’t have to worry about losing your reins! These keepers tether your reins to the pommel/swell on the saddle. But they are flexible enough that your horse can still put his head down. Adjustable, made of waterproof polypropylene, and they come in tons of colors.

Ultralight Highline Kit
Weighing in at about a pound, this ultralight highline kit is easy to pack in your saddlebags. It comes with a 25’ 3/8” poly rope, 1 prusik tie, two tree savers, 1 carabiner, and an ultralight stuff sack. Along with horsecamping, these can really come in handy just on a trail ride if you take a lunch break in the trees.
Bug Head Net
Will you look silly? Sure. But who will be laughing when the bugs are swarming? A bug head net weighs virtually nothing and takes up no space in your saddlebags. Throw one in there. If you happen to be on the trail during the buggy season, you’ll be glad to have it.

Leatherman Skeletool
I struggle with traditional multitools because I find them heavy and full of things I never actually need. I like this one though because it is lightweight (5 oz.) and it has useful tools for the trail. This 7-in-1 features: needlenose pliers, regular pliers, wire cutters, hard-wire cutters, a knife, carabiner/bottle opener, large bit driver. Plus it comes in cool colors!
Nevada Turquoise Ring
Okay, these aren’t just for trail riders per se, but for anyone who loves the Silver State. Song Dog Silver is a Reno-based biz that makes one-of-a-kind jewelry. Rings, necklaces, hat pins, and more – each one is lovingly silversmithed using real Nevada mined turquoise.

If none of these strike your fancy, remember Cowboy Christmas is coming up. Head to Las Vegas to shop ’til you drop from December 5 -14. Literally thousands of vendors selling everything your little western heart can desire. Hope to see you there!
